The Last Empress of Korea

I think both of us right now are asking the same question. Yes, I've watched Goong in the TV, read in the manhwa series, and wondered what had happened to the royal family of Korea.
Till now, we hear news from the Japanese royal family and the British royal family. But how about the Joseon dynasty, the great Gyeongbokgong palace and the reign of the once powerful dragon nation.
Up to this day, I wonder what would have been Korea if the royal queen wasn't assassinated and the uprising hasn't started and foremost the invasion of Japan to Korea did not happen. We might be enjoying a lingering nation of tranquility and the melting pot of tradition and culture.
I am a great fan of the unique country of Korea, much have I read about its history and its culture. Normally, I doze myself with Korean historical dramas or movies to fully understand the once great scenario.
And therefore recently, to my great amusement I saw the movie title "The Last Empress" and feel in love with the plot. Starring hallyu actress Soo-Ae as the renowned Empress Min Jayoung or in history books the last Empress Myeongseong assassinated in the early 1900's.
The story was slightly altered to fit the amusement of the audience. A love story bloomed between the would be queen and a commoner. The rise of a new queen after ages of having no maternal power inside the sovereignty of the palace. The family feud between the new arrival of the queen and the rise of cross-world communications and relationships among the known strongest countries in the world before.
Also the film was represented with great cinematography and CG effects that can truly amaze movie goers. One thing is for certain, the production and the director never failed the audience to depict the Korea of 1900's and the views changed after influence of the western world was opened to the once strong bounded Korea.
Now, I fully understand the reason why Korean students before would swear and hate Japanese so much. If I was just Korean and felt the injustice seen in the last part of the film, I swear by tomorrow, I won't eat Japanese anymore. Kidding aside. But to open such controversial part of history to the eyes of the world was an applause among those great thinkers that plummeted this idea.

Truly from the reincarnation of Empress Myeongseong in this film, I can truly say, that if a woman can move a man and so shall be it's nation. A nation without matriarchy is  a nation without wisdom. And a man without a woman is nothing but a worthless being.

And enough is said. By the way, I am a free willed Asian. Fighting against racism, building up connections and against tiger nations engulfing poor nations. So be it!

Plot: Moo-myoung (Seung-woo) is a Joseon dynasty headhunter who tracks down fugitives and lives off their rewards. On one of his missions, he encounters a beautiful noble lady, Ja-young (Soo Ae), and falls in love with her. A few years later, Ja-young enters the royal palace as the next queen of Joseon. Lovesick Moo-myoung becomes the personal guard to the queen in order to be closer to Ja-young. After attaining the title of queen, Ja-young tries to modernize the dynasty by allying with foreign nations but becomes turmoiled into a political power struggle. Moo-myoung must fend off devastating threats from the foreign army in order to protect Ja-young from harm.
